If you follow IslesBlog on twitter, you're already aware of MSG Networks hiring of Shannon Hogan as the Islanders' new broadcast host.
Hogan has spent the past four years covering Detroit's major teams, as well as college hockey, for Fox Sports Detroit, after earning her degree at Mizzou.
“We are excited to welcome Shannon Hogan to the MSG family...Islanders fans will appreciate Shannon’s enthusiasm, charisma, and love of hockey for the team’s final season at Nassau Coliseum.”
- Daniel Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager of MSG Networks.
Replacing Peter Ruttgaizer, whom is known for his incurable "dry" eyes, and daily mispronunciation of player's names, many being the names of Islanders, Hogan has already been welcomed with open arms and is certainly a step up in the position.
"I am thrilled to be joining the MSG family at such an exciting time for the network and the Islanders.... It will be fantastic working with a franchise rich in tradition and a young team on the rise. During my four years with Fox Sports Detroit, I had the pleasure of working with some of the best managers, coaches, players and analysts in the business. My experience with the Islanders and MSG will add many more people to that list. Interacting with Detroit's passionate fans was a pleasure and I'm looking forward to a great relationship with the Islanders fans. I can't wait for my adventure in New York to begin!"
- Shannon Hogan
When I was first made aware of her hiring a few weeks back I did some research into Shannon's work and was pleased with her enthusiasm and professionalism while behind the mic. She seems excited to start, and us fans seem excited for her to start as well. A win/win in my book.
Plus I found this gem of a YouTube video:
