Who is Alyse Barker? The Islanders New Game Day Host

When the regular season started in October, former WHRU Isles reporter Kerri Schreiber was slotted as Islanders / Barclays Center Game Day Host for their first season in Brooklyn. There were some hiccups in the beginning – mostly audio issues, that were no fault of Schreiber’s as she performed professionally in her bedazzled Islanders jersey every home game.

Then earlier this month, Schreiber was suddenly and unceremoniously replaced with Alyse Barker (Zwick), a former New York Jets Flight Crew member (2011-2013) and previous Miss New York, who competed in the 2009 Miss America Pageant. Barker is also has experience as a Fitness expert and freelance entertainment reporter.

For those of you that enjoy the guilty pleasures of reality show singing contests, Barker is newly married to Jake Barker, a contestant on Season 6 of “The Voice.” In fact, Jake proposed to Alyse during The Voice Tour show in NYC at the Beacon Theatre back in July 2014. If you are looking to get emotional. you can watch him pop the question HERE

Jake survived the Blind auditions and two Battle Rounds but like the Islanders, he was eliminated after his performance of “She Will Be Loved” in the opening round of “The Playoffs.”

Here is his rendition of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man”

Per her official site, Barker is well known for her advocacy work in the war veteran’s community, inspired by her grandfather, a decorated WWII veteran.

Alyse is the official spokesperson for the United War Veterans Council in New York City. For her volunteerism at the Walter Reed Hospital, she was featured in the Vietnam Veterans of America national magazine. On Veteran’s Day 2009, she received the special honor to be a Grand Marshall of the Veterans Day Parade.
